Third Full-Length “Lunatic Asylum” From German Dada/Noise/Punks SUDDEN INFANT OUT TODAY Through FOURTH DIMENSION RECORDS. Listen to “Lunatic Asylum” in its Entirety RIGHT HERE and Find Order-Options HERE.

Joke Lanz and Sudden Infant once again return in their razor sharp trio setting whereby the absurdist nature that Joke’s work is already cut with is reconfigured in a gnarled and beefy punk-fucked contorted rock setting. Short bursts of angular flex are heavily propelled by depth-charge rhythms, wry lyrical musings on modern living, and sensibilities hatched from years of experience in the worlds of sound art, abstract music, industrialised junk-noise and related areas have manifested in the perfect follow up to 2018’s Buddhist Nihilism album on Harbinger Sound. Guest vocals on Il y a des Enfant by Franz Treichler (The Young Gods).

You can’t categorise Sudden Infant. It is a unique band. Some say they hear influences from Birthday Party, Psychic TV and Butthole Surfers, others evoke the minimalism of Happy Flowers and Virgin Prunes. The fact is, Sudden Infant go all the way and constantly surprise with unpredictable twists and crazy dadaistic ideas. This band is an adventure, both on record and on stage.

Watch the Band’s Fantastic New Video for the Track “Head” Starring the nine-year-old Kid of Drummer Alexandre Babel – Kenzo and his Best Buddies at EVERYTHING IS NOISE RIGHT HERE!

Comments Joke Lanz: “The song “Head” is based on an 8-bit sample from Kenzo’s music box. Kenzo is the 9 year old son of Alexandre, the drummer of Sudden Infant. This also gave rise to the idea of shooting the music video with Kenzo and his best buddies. The energy of the kids is great and fits perfectly with the dadaistic wit and refreshing radicalism of Sudden Infant.”

Jacques Brel once said: “There’s no such thing as adults, it’s an attitude. We keep chasing the dreams we had as kids.”

Joke Lanz: For almost 30 years, Joke Lanz has certainly been one of the most prominent and creative heads of the international noise and performance scene. collaborated with Christian Marclay and was remixed by Thurston Moore. He has shared stage and physical fierceness with Peter Kowald, Shelley Hirsch, Z’EV, Mette Rasmussen, Sophie Agnel and many others. The list is long. Years ago, Joke Lanz played Adolf Wölfli in a play by Meret Matter.

Christian Weber: Is an internationally sought-after bass player. He’s a member of Michael Wollny Trio, Collegium Novum, Momentum, Eskelin-Weber-Griener, Wintsch-Weber-Wolfarth, among others. Guest lecturer at the University of Bern, teaching double bass at the University of Lucerne. He has played with many greats of jazz and free music, including Joachim Kühn, John Butcher, Christy Doran, Lol Coxhill, Pierre Favre, Phil Minton, Evan Parker, Irène Schweizer, Elliot Sharp, Nate Wooley, Otomo Yoshihide,
Werner Lüdi.

Alexandre Babel: Studied percussion at the Geneva Conservatory and in New York with Ben Perowsky, Ari Hoenig and Jeff Hirshfield. He is a founding member of the performance collective Radial with the artist Mio Chareteau and was 2009 to 2019 solo percussionist of the internationally renowned contemporary music ensemble KNM Berlin. He worked with Caspar Brötzmann, Massimo Pupillo, Ryoji Ikeda, Nicolas Field, Stephen O’Malley and Pierre Jodlowski, among others.
