Anchor and Burden go maritime.

After chronicling the downfall of mankind and wandering through its irradiated ruins on EXTINCTION LEVEL and AFTERGLOW,Anchor and Burden now descend into the depths with SUNKEN FLEET – an underwater odyssey through drowned wreckage, bioluminescent lifeforms, and spectral echoes of the past.

Ghostly, mutated beings drift silently through flooded reactor rooms and corroded crew quarters of once-mighty warships and trade vessels. Rusting steel now provides shelter for those who hide from far more terrifying predators lurking in the pitch-black abyss.

Musically, SUNKEN FLEET ebbs and flows like the tide: hypnotic basslines rise and swell, while drifting leads and shimmering soundscapes glide through vast subaquatic realms.

Organic and electronic drums perform a curved ballet with the guitars, weaving through polyrhythmic waves like water flowing through the engines of sinking ships.

The result is an immersive sound journey — dark, dreamlike, and hauntingly beautiful.

Dive into the deep. Discover the SUNKEN FLEET beneath.

# Artist info:
Anchor and Burden is an uncompromising progressive avant-garde doom-jazz post-rock band which has their own style of collective instant composition that defies the norms of creation.

The two 8-string touch guitarists Markus Reuter and Alexander Dowerk conjure a wide array of moods with their unique instruments: From ethereal whispers out of sci-fi realms to cerebral virtuosity that fractures the very psyche unto crushing metal brutality that leaves the listener gasping for their breath.

Alexander is playing a multichannel Touch Guitars® S8 instrument throughout this album. Each string is being recorded and processed separately, which leads to just Alex on his own already sounding like several people playing.

Bernhard Wöstheinrich weaves a web of synths and self-modulating percussive machinery, an arcane undercurrent beneath the towering monoliths of guitar, as if sentient space stations traverse the void.

Drummer Asaf Sirkis, the virtuoso master of rhythm, wields his jazz and Indian polyrhythms not merely to forge a pulsating heartbeat, but also to break up and shift the quartet’s music into unexpected places with his complex hyper jazz rhythms.

This certainly isn’t easy music to consume at all, but it will satisfy the bold appetite of those who are in love with adventurous music and unrelenting artistic expression.
