Mouth from Cologne switch from the prog label Tonzonen to This Charming Man with their fourth album “Getaway” – and nobody could be more pleased about it than me! What a mad trip the three of them throw in here. The very first song almost bursts the duration of a long-playing record. Meandering nicely trippy through the musical swamp rock landscape of the 60s & 70s, Mouth scrape along all the genres you can roam with a classic rock band – prog, rock, space, garage, jazz or krautrock – this is all formed into a coherent, stomping mass on “Getaway”. With “Once” they have a real hit on board that can make the dance floor of any indie/rock party shake – simply great.
Previous albums “Rhizome” (2009/2020) , “Vortex” (2017), “Floating” (2018), “Live’71” (2018), “Past-Present-Future” (2019)) were all highly acclaimed works and I’m sure MOUTH’s well matured album “Getaway” will also pick up the critical acclaim. And of course the 4th album is an album whose songs are woven together by a narrative concept: A hopeless escape without a happy ending. The album artwork comes from the artist Rolf Maria Koller (The Apocalyptic Dream | 1972) and the master is done by Eroc.

+++GERMAN INFO: Mouth aus Köln wechseln mit ihrem vierten Album „Getaway“ vom Prog-Label Tonzonen zu This Charming Man – und niemand könnte erfreuter darüber sein als ich! Was ein Wahnsinnstrip, den die drei hier einwerfen. Direkt der erste Song sprengt fast die Dauer einer Langspielplattenseite. Schön trippy durch die musikalische Sumpfrocklandschaft der 60er & 70er mäandernd, schrammen Mouth entlang aller Genre, die man mit einer klassischen Rockband streifen kann – Prog, Rock, Space, Garage, Jazz- oder Krautrock – dies alles wird auf „Getaway“ zu einer stimmig, stampfenden Masse geformt. Mit „Once“ haben sie einen richtigen Hit mit an Board, der den Dancefloor einer jeden Indie/Rock-Party zum beben bringen kann – einfach toll.
Die Vorgängeralben „Rhizome“ (2009/2020) , „Vortex“ (2017), „Floating“ (2018), „Live‘71“ (2018), “Past-Present-Future” (2019)) waren alles hochgelobte Werke und ich bin mir sicher, dass sich MOUTHs gut gereiftes Album „Getaway” auch die Lobhudelei der Kritiker abholen wird. Und natürlich ist das 4.Album ein Album, dessen Songs durch ein narratives Konzept verwoben sind: Eine ausweglose Flucht ohne Happy End. Das Cover kommt vom Künstler Rolf Maria Koller (Der apokalyptische Traum | 1972) und das Master macht Eroc.
